286 HP1996 Impala SS

Two years ago a brand new 1996 BBB Impala SS crossed my path, since then my mind has not been able to get it off my head. My dream came true four weeks ago, A Dark Green-Gray Metallic Impala SS with only 69k on the odometer was sitting in the lot of a dealership 80+ miles away from my home.

I only have a cold-air-induction installed and can easily pull away from 3rd generation corvettes. I attend a monthly Sonic car show and I get a lot of compliments. When opening my car door to go for a drive, I get a wonderful feeling, which is hard to explain. I also kind of have a camaraderie to my car’s body like other proud owners of 1994-1996 B type body owners.

My Impala is currently stock with the exception of the cold air intake. This however does not stop me from pulling away easily during street races. This is illegal and should not be done at all, though I did beat a Corvette.

Aside from that, this car packs a punch. Every time I get in for a drive my adrenaline starts kicking. If you ever had a car that could really push you would understand.

The Impala SS features a 286 HP engine. It’s design is built for speed and its ride is fantastic. Do you as a buyer really care about this though? When I want to buy a vehicle I always hear about the good stuff.

Personally I won’t be investing any time or money fixing this annoying problem for the next few months. The reason why the car squeaks is because it is restricted. This can be solved by getting a different air intake and filter.

You can get a performance increase by K and N for about 150 dollars and this will boost your Impala’s horsepower by 26. Another thing is this is a car, and as all cars do it has it’s own problems. These problems are different for each cars.

It is really difficult to name one make and model that comes problem free. Cars have problems with their radiators, engines, pumps and wires. One thing for sure is that these problems are corrected over the years.
