No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service – Making Cycling Safe

We’ve all been driving the highway before at some point and been left in shock at the antics of somebody on a motorcycle. Some motorcyclists weave in and out of traffic with no regards to the lanes at all. Other people don’t even wear helmets or the other kind of proper attire. Some simply go too fast to be fully in control. Regardless of what they are doing, motorcycling has become very dangerous.

Wearing protective gear is essential if you are going to be driving a motorcycle. It is something that is very basic and is designed to keep you safe for more than one reason. The first reason is to save your life. Wearing the right boots, thick pants, and a helmet will help you in the event of an accident. They can make the difference between you being bruised and scratched, and have body parts lying on the road. In addition, if you happen to be in a fatal accident, wearing a helmet will help authorities and your family to be able to identify the body.

There isn’t a reason that can be found that would justify any person not protecting himself when riding a motorcycle. Moreover, though protection includes driving safely. Motorcycle driving safety is not only important for the driver, but for other people on the roadways. Motorcyclists often forget that there are other people on the roads that they endanger when they drive recklessly. There are often accidents that occur between other drivers but caused by a motorcyclist who is driving recklessly. When people are trying not to hit the cyclist, they end up hitting other cars instead.

Accidents aren’t just bad for those who are in them either. Other people are forced to sit in traffic, insurance premiums increase, injuries occur, and medical expenses rise as well. So not only is the motorcyclist affected, but motorcycle accidents affect everyone. That’s why safety is the key.

The truth is that you can’t entirely control your own safety when you ride a motorcycle. You can be the best, most experienced cyclist and can still run into a scenario where you crash. Whether it’s the weather, another driver, the condition of the road or anything else, it’s bound to happen at some point.

Considering all of that, you should take every step necessary to protect yourself. You can’t completely control what happens to you on a bike, but you can control how protected you are from the consequences of an accident or some other kind of road incident. Always wear a proper helmet, and wear the right shoes as well. Don’t forget that jackets and jeans also make a difference. If you wear all of this gear you’ll be giving yourself a better chance of walking away from an accident unscathed, and you’ll also be making the road safer for everybody else as well.
